Things I've Noticed?

Now, I'm a pretty horrible Muslim. I'm certainly not trying to say I'm better than anyone else. I'm not. At all. If it weren't for terrorists tainting the name of Islam, I would consider myself the worst Muslim ever. But there are things that I think are basic things, that so many born Muslims in my community don't give a moment's thought.

One thing, feet. Uhh. I know that's a grey area, and a lot of people feel women don't have to cover their feet, but I thought that they do is a majority opinion? At least in our community. There's a sign about it not far from where these bare toes pray. . . I personally don't worry too much about the tops of my feet showing when I'm out and about (unless it's cold, of course), but I make sure I wear socks when I pray, because it's better safe than sorry. And then I feel like the only one in our rows with socks. It's a funny feeling.

Oh, and did I mention that these toes usually have nail polish on them? And the fingers usually have matching polish on them, too? I want to say something, say that wudu won't be valid if it can't hit your natural nail, but. . . I'm afraid of how they'll take it. Afraid they'll be like, "Well YOU blah blah blah," and they don't even know the half of it. And this one girl I met on Eid went to the bathroom and didn't make wudu at all! And since they were all praying, they were obviously not menstruating. . . Or maybe they were. They don't seem to know anything about impurities and prayer.

But then, like I said, I'm a horrible Muslim. I could make a post about my flaws to make your head spin. I'm reminding myself before anyone else, of course.

  1. As salam alaykum Sis,

I know it's very difficoult to say something like this to another Sister without hurting her feelings, but maybe these women don't know that wudu won't be valid with nail polish on?

Well, inshallah they'll all be guided and I'm glad you wrote this post as a reminder for all of us.

  3. THERE ARE JUDGEMENTS OF ISLAM ABOUT WOMAN, FAMILY AND MARRIAGE. A Muslim man must appreciate good deeds, whosoever makes good deeds. Treating women with justice is the necessity of Islam. Justice is wider than equality. Family is foundation stone (seed) of society. Woman is very important vigorous society. If a woman educated her children rightly, Society can be very well. Islam attaches importance women. Women are like a diamond. Women don't like coal. Coal is outside. But diamond is inside. Everybody wants to hide diamond. Islam never prohibits that woman dressed up her husband and dress clean garment. Women can dress nice and ornate dresses for her husband. It is free the gold and silk for women.
A Muslim woman must put on full dress which covers all of her body in the presence of strangers. Islam protects honesty of women by commanding that a woman must veil herself. A Muslim never wants that woman’s body is an esthetic form in front of her self-hood. Veiling is not a cruel. Veiling is for goodness of her. She is an abd (to serve (someone) with utter faithfulness and obedience) of Allah. But she is not a servant of anything other than Allah. She wants to judgments of Allah about veiling. But if she doesn’t want to commands of Allah, she became a kaafir (unbeliever). Thus she became a servant of anybody. When A Muslim woman veiled according to Islam, her personality is in front her feminine. Islam protects women from illness of exhibitionism. A Muslim never torments anyone. A woman is protected from harmful views and acts with Islam. It is obvious that men eyes have harmful rays like beta and gamma. But harmful rays never affect Muslim women and the rates of cancer are little amongst Muslim women. Nakedness causes foolishness. A lot of places of the world, the woman is seen a sexual goods by some people. In Islam, A woman is seen a woman. A woman is trust to her husband. Islam esteems women. Muhammad (SAW) says: “Paradise lies beneath the feath of mothers.”

  4. {The most perfect of the believers in faith are the best of them in morals. And the best among them are those who are best to their wives.}
The fornication of the eyes consists of looking, of ears in hearing, of the tongue in speech, of the hand in violence and of the foot in walking. The heart lusts and wishes and the private parts accord with that or reject it. (Muslim)
Our Nabi (Prophet) told his companions that they will be rewarded even for having sexual intercourse with their wives. "By satisfying it legally with your wives you are rewarded for it." This means they are acts of worship. Thus Islam does not consider sex a dirty thing that one should avoid. It is dirty and sinful only when it is satisfied outside marital life.
... They are your garments and ye are their garments… (2: 187)
Mahram: Hadrad Jabir (r.a) reported Hadrad Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "A man must not spend the night in the house of a woman who has been married unless he is a husband or a close relative." (Muslim)
Hadrad Anas bin Malik (r.a) relates that Muhammad (SAW) , said, "One (For Muslims) who brings up two girls right from their childhood till their maturity, will appear on the Day of Judgment attached to me like these" (two fingers of hand) and he joined his two fingers'. (Muslim reported)
The Rights of the Wife: Islam has given women rights since 1400 years ago. Narrated Hadrad 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn Al 'Aas (r.a): Muhammad (SAW) said, "O 'Abdullah! Have I not been informed that I have to fast all the day and stand up in prayer all night?" I said, "Yes, O Allah's Messenger." He said, "Do not do that. Observe the fast sometimes and also leave them (the fast) at other times; stand up for the prayer at night and also sleep at night. Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you and your wife has a right over you." (Bukhari) there is the right of divorce of women in Islam.
Behave best towards wives: Hadrad Abu Hurayra (r.a) relates that Muhammad (SAW) said: The most perfect Muslim in the matter of faith is one who has an excellent behavior; and the best among you are those who behave best towards their wives. (Tirmidhi)
Preserve chastity: Hadrad Anas (r.a) reported Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "When a woman observes the five times of prayer, fasts during Ramadan, preserves her chastity and obeys her husband, she may enter by any of the gates of Paradise she wishes." (Abu Nu'aym)
The rights of the husband: Hadrad Abu Hurayra (r.a) relates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When the husband calls his wife to his bed and she disobeys, and he spends the night in anger against her, the angels keep cursing her till the morning." (Bukhari and Muslim)
Marriage encouraged: Hadrad 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (r.a) reported Muhammad (SAW) as saying, "Young men, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality but those who cannot, should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire." (Bukhari and Muslim)
Consent to marriage: Narrated mother of faithful believers Sayyidatina ‘Aisha (r.a): I asked the Messenger (SAW), “O Allah's Messenger! Should the women be asked for their consent to their marriage?” He said, “Yes.” I said, “A virgin, if asked, feels shy and keeps quiet.” He said, “Her silence means her consent.” (Bukhari)
Divorce allowed but hated: Hadrad Thawban (r.a) reported Hadrad Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) as saying, "If any woman asks her husband for divorce without some strong reason the odour of Paradise will be forbidden to her". (Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and Darimi)
